ACA promotes gender equity in health insurance, but contraceptive coverage still under attack

Many women’s rights organizations celebrated the 6th anniversary of the ACA on March 23rd as a big step forward in gender equity in health insurance. However, there continue to be serious threats to some of the key provisions of the law, especially for reproductive health services.  This week the Supreme Court heard arguments in the case of Zubik v. Burwell, the latest challenge by religiously-affiliated employers to the ACA’s contraceptive coverage mandate. Raising Women’s Voices and many other groups are fighting hard to defend these key provisions in the law.  See this article from Raising Women’s Voices for more details.
